Winners of Best Project are Hurstpierpoint College Team 2 who worked with Balfour Beatty on their project ‘Designing an innovative & environmentally sustainable bridleway with a bridge’. The runners up are BHASVIC who worked with Mott MacDonald on their project ‘Gantry replacement for Norwegian substations’.
The assessors were very impressed with the overall standard of projects from all 6 teams (St Richards Catholic College, Bexhill College, Gildredge House, BHASVIC, Hurstpierpoint College) who have been awarded a Gold Industrial Cadets Award in recognition of their achievements. We congratulate all teams and also thank the STEM Ambassador mentors and assessors who’ve generously shared their knowledge and experience with participating teams.
The scheme partners young people with mentoring companies over a period of 7 months, helping to prepare them for the challenges of future employment, encouraging them into industry, and providing them with skills that will enable them to have rewarding and long-lasting careers. If you’re interested in potentially registering a team for next year please email us.
We work with a variety of employers and organisations of all sizes. Please contact us if you’d like to get involved!
“ Our students come away enthused and, particularly for yr 8’s, it encourages them to choose STEM subjects at GCSE. ”
“ STEM events are a great opportunity to encourage children’s interest in science and maths. We would particularly like to see more children from disadvantaged backgrounds coming along to these events so they can see the opportunities that are available to them. ”
“ We were so proud to have shown so many students what the opportunities are that studying STEM subjects could lead to. The buzz and excitement stemming from the engagement of the pupils in the Gatwick zone made for a truly special day. ”
